The History of Lambda Chi Alpha

Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity considers each member an equal; all part of our no-hazing policy.  Internationally, Lambda Chi is the third largest collegiate fraternity and has the most living alumni. Beta Kappa Zeta has initiated over 1600 members from all across the nation. When you become a brother, you are a brother for life; a man among men. We take great pride in our membership and hold true to our brotherhood according to our by-laws and our ethics. The history of the Beta Kappa chapter began in 1927, when J.M. Walker, A.C. Wise, and S.R. Perry formed the Quota Club. Later that year, the Quota Club received permission from IFC to become Chi Beta Sigma local fraternity. In November of 1928, Chi Beta Sigma petitioned Beta Kappa National Fraternity for chartering. This petition was accepted Chi Beta Sigma became Alpha Gamma of Beta Kappa.
However, in 1929, Beta Kappa merged with Theta Chi National Fraternity and Alpha Gamma at Georgia Tech became Alpha Gamma local as Georgia Tech already had a Theta Chi chapter. In 1942, Alpha Gamma petitioned Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity for chartering. The Beta Kappa chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha was founded on October 18, 1942 here at Georgia Tech. In 1948, our current house was purchased at 792 Techwood Drive. In 1968, the tradition of having a house St. Bernard was adopted with the birth of Chai. Our fifth dog, Cole, has roamed these hallowed halls since his birth in August of 2002.
Since our founding, our chapter has been committed to excellence and making a difference on campus. Some of our proudest achievements include:

Very active in on-campus activities, philanthropies, intramurals, and social events, the Beta Kappa chapter has become one of the leading fraternities at Georgia Tech.
