The Mission of Lambda Chi Alpha

Lambda Chi Alpha's Vision
The
vision of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity is to prepare and encourage collegiate men of good character, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute positively to the world in which they live.

Lambda Chi Alpha's Mission
The
mission of Lambda Chi Alpha is to offer the best fraternal experience, focusing on personal character development through leadership, scholarship, community service, and positive social experiences.

The Creed of Lambda Chi Alpha
We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles and ideals. The crescent is our symbol; pure, high ever growing, and the cross is our guide; denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

The Ideals of Lambda Chi Alpha

Adaptability
Success in life depends largely on seeing another's point of view, appreciating his feelings and aspirations, avoiding offense to him, and gaining his confidence.
Cooperation
Two heads are better than one and every member can make a definite contribution to the welfare of the chapter. Antagonizing and undermining the other men in the chapter makes mutual effort all but impossible.
Loyalty
Stay true to ideals, to fraternity brothers, to friends to college, and to country. Loyalty is the foundation of dependability and trust.
Truth
Dodging the truth is only to delay meeting it face-to-face; evasion is but a confession of weakness or guilt. The pathway of truth leads to better understanding in human relations, and nowhere is this as true as in a chapter house.
Justice
Just rewards both sides and evasion of it, in the long run, helps nobody. Further, a gain made through injustice is only temporary. To be considered a just man is one of the highest compliments. Strive for it earnestly.
Honor
Honor surpasses bare truth and mere justice. The fraternal relationship demands honorable dealing which implies a willingness to sacrifice.
Industry
Lambda Chi Alpha's open Greek motto, "Naught without Labor," fully expresses a fundamental fraternal ideal. Work, or labor, is honorable. Work at the study table, work for the Fraternity, a career of work after leaving college-this constitutes part of the creed of the real Lambda Chi.
Christian Principles
Christ put forward a philosophy that fits most perfectly with the ideals of today's Fraternity. Lambda Chi's profess belief in Christian principles. Loyalty to these teaching is essential in our Fraternity.
Patriotism
To question, investigate, and criticize with sincere purpose is a privilege of democracy. This can be done in a spirit of loyalty and support. Democracy permits many liberties and we must defend them whenever the occasion arises. Lambda Chi Alpha emphasizes patriotic loyalty because it is just honorable, and reasonable.
Morality
In the broad sense, morality means respect for human welfare. Whatever protects, fosters, and elevates the human race is moral. What endangers, hampers, and degrades is immoral. Lambda Chi's are committed to a constructive life, dedicated to the well-being of humankind, and an immoral act is an offense against the fraternity.
Learning
Learning is an ideal because it means personal development and creative results. Greater nobility of character, better understanding, and, consequently, peace and security, are the fruits of learning. Lambda Chi Alpha has sponsored high scholarship since its earliest history. The emblems, rituals, and traditions of the Fraternity are the result of scholarly endeavor. Poor scholarship is out of harmony with the spirit of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Fraternity
In Lambda Chi Alpha we have, we believe, one word that embodies ever facet of human character-a word that rallies all that is worthwile in mankind. That word is Fraternity-the spirit of brotherhood. Lambda Chi Alpha fraternalism is the combination of all the above ideals. It includes adapting to one's fraternity brothers-cooperating; being loyal; facing and upholding the truth in all dealings; demanding and granting justice; cherishing and practicing honor; applying oneself (alone or in the company of others) with energy and consistency; abiding by the principles of Christianity; leading a life of moral uprightness; and contributing to advancement through learning. Naturally, we don't regard this word as our own. In Lambda Chi Alpha, however, fraternity takes on a special significance.
